YouChange celebrates Social Business Day 2011
June 27th, 2011, was Professor Yunus's Birthday, Social Business Day, and YouChange June Family Day. The events were hosted by YouChange Foundation, and were assisted by YouChange PuRong. It was held in the Old Town Rose Restaurant, south of Capital Mansion in Beijing. Madam Wang Ping, chairperson of YouChange, Mr. Frank Liu, Vice Chairman of YouChange , Mr. Qu Tianjun, Supervisor of YouChange, Mr. Du Xiaoshan, Independent Director of YouChange PuRong, Ms. Xie Jin, devision head of Exchange Center of The Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Xu Wei, Director of Fosun Group Public Affairs, Ms. Sonia Wong, Representative of Grameen Foundation and staff of YouChange all attended this activity.
The celebrations began at 6 pm. Ms. Qiu Qingqing, the director of Social Innovative Support Center in YouChange, hosted this activity. After watching the introduction video of Prof Yunus and Grameen Bank, Chairperson Madam Wang Ping congratulated Professor Yunus. She then pointed out that being the first domestic foundation advocating social business ideas, YouChange Foundation was always persistent, and she also expressed hope that social business around the world should coalesce and promote society to develop in a more just and harmonious way. Afterwards, Mr. Frank Liu, Vice Chairman, Mr. Qu Tianjun, Supervisor, also Director of Poverty Alleviation Office of the State of Council, and Mr. Du Xiaoshan, Father of Chinese Microfinance, Independent Director of YouChange PuRong, separately delivered speeches expressing their wishes to Professor Yunus, and the support to social business.Prize giving contest came after the speeches. This included a pop quiz event that covered topics dealing with YouChange Foundation, social business and microfinance, etc. Everyone participated and helped many learn more about the foundation. Another theme was the YouChange June Family Day. Vice Chairman Mr. Frank Liu, brought gifts for colleagues whose birthdays were in June.
The atmosphere of the celebration was exciting and all staff took part in the activities. The event lasted till 9 pm and came to a successful end. After the activity, colleagues of YouChange PuRong sent photos to Bangladeshi Yunus Center and Grameen Foundation, congratulating and honoring Professor Yunus on his birthday.
