Russian Edition of Yunus’s Book Three Zeros Launched

Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus was invited by the Governor of the Central Bank of Russia to address the 28th International Finance Conference in St Petersburg. On his way to St Petersburg an elaborate programme was organized for him in Moscow by Microfinance Association of Russia and Our Future Foundation. The focus of the programme was addressing the International Social Business Day celebration. This included a press conference on social business addressed by the leaders of microfinance and social businesses and Deputy Minister of Economic Development.
The International Social Business Day (ISBD) is celebrated in Russia every year on June 28, following the initiative of Yunus Centre in Bangladesh. It is celebrated nationally since 2013. The events arranged this year on this day brought together social entrepreneurs, senior authorities, public organizations and passionate stakeholders who want to tackle underlying issues plaguing our society.
Since 2013, 518 events in 67 regions have been hosted, involving more than half a million people in Russia. As a part of these annual events roundtables, social business design contests, seminars, workshops, lectures, open door days for social projects take place all over Russia. The Agency for strategic initiatives, OPORA Russia, Business Russia, Russian Chamber of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the leading educational institutions of the country act as partners of these celebrations. Our Future Foundation and Microfinance Association of Russia play central role in organizing the annual celebration.
The major topic of discussion at the conference this year was “Review of results of the International Social Business Day celebrations in Russia” – where the future of social entrepreneurship development in Russian regions in relation to the legal status of social entrepreneurship and social businesses was discussed. This included factors such as motivating further interest and support from governmental bodies and partners willing to develop social entrepreneurship in Russia along with their positive experiences and potential point of growth.

An important event this year was launching of Prof. Yunus’s book “A World of Three Zeros” in the Russian language as a part of the celebration. The book was given as a gift in their conference bags to all delegates attending the conference. It was a special edition printed for all the conferences held during Prof. Yunus’s visit to Moscow and St. Petersburg. A special edition of the book was printed for this occasion which was jointly sponsored by the Microfinance Association of Russia, and Our Future Foundation.
Prof. Yunus had lunch with Professor Mikhail Eskindarov, Rector of the Financial University of Russia , one of the leading Russian Universities. He was joined by Deputy Rectors. The Rector announced his decision to set up a Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC) in the University.
Professor Yunus was given a guided tour of the famous Moscow Museum called “Collection”, founded by David Lakobachvili. This museum claims to hold the largest private collections in the world, which contains more than 20,000 items of global cultural heritage. A dinner was hosted in honour of Professor Yunus by the Chairman of Chamber of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Russia where the Noble Laureate addressed the top industrialists of Russia. In his address he highlighted that if businesses and industries continue to pursue the single-minded pursuit of only profit, the world will soon face extinction. He underlined the urgency of stopping the process to let human beings survive. He said time is running out very fast. We must act decisively and very fast.

রাশিয়ার কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের গভর্ণর সেইন্ট পিটার্সবার্গে অনুষ্ঠিত ২৮তম ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফাইনান্সিয়াল কনফারেন্সে ভাষণ দেবার জন্য নোবেল লরিয়েট প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসকে আমন্ত্রণ জানান। এ প্রেক্ষিতে মাইক্রোফাইনান্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব রাশিয়া এবং আওয়ার ফিউচার ফাউন্ডেশান প্রফেসর ইউনূসের সেইন্ট পিটার্সবার্গ গমন পথে একটি বিস্তারিত কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করে। এই কর্মসূচির কেন্দ্রে ছিল আন্তর্জাতিক সামাজিক ব্যবসা দিবস উদ্যাপন। এতে আরো অন্তর্ভূক্ত ছিল ক্ষুদ্রঋণ ও সামাজিক ব্যবসার নেতৃবৃন্দ এবং অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়ন বিষয়ক উপ-মন্ত্রীর বক্তব্য সম্বলিত সামাজিক ব্যবসার উপর একটি প্রেস রিলিজ।
বাংলাদেশে ইউনূস সেন্টারের পদাংক অনুসরণ করে রাশিয়ায়ও প্রতি বছর ২৮ জুন আন্তর্জাতিক সামাজিক ব্যবসা দিবস পালিত হয়ে থাকে। সেখানে দিবসটি ২০১৩ সাল থেকে জাতীয়ভাবে উদ্যাপিত হয়ে আসছে। এ বছরও এই দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে সমাজের জরুরী সমস্যাগুলো সমাধানের লক্ষ্যে কাজ করতে বিশেষভাবে আগ্রহী এমন সামাজিক উদ্যোক্তা, উর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা, সরকারী প্রতিষ্ঠান ও অনান্য অংশীজনরা সমবেত হন।
২০১৩ সাল থেকে রাশিয়ার ৬৭টি অঞ্চলে ৫ লক্ষেরও বেশী মানুষের অংশগ্রহণে ৫১৮টি অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। এসব বাৎসরিক অনুষ্ঠানের অংশ হিসেবে পুরো রাশিয়া জুড়ে আয়োজিত হয়েছে গোলটেবিল আলোচনা, সামাজিক ব্যবসা ডিজাইন প্রতিযোগিতা, সেমিনার, কর্মশালা, বক্তৃতা ও সামাজিক প্রকল্পের জন্য ঊন্মুক্ত-দ্বার দিবস। এসব অনুষ্ঠানে সহযোগী সংগঠন হিসেবে কাজ করছে রাশিয়ার বিভিন্ন খ্যাতনামা প্রতিষ্ঠান যেমন দি এজেন্সী ফর স্ট্র্যাটেজিক ইনিশিয়েটিভ, অপোরা রাশিয়া, বিজনেস রাশিয়া, রাশিয়ান ইউনিয়ন ফর ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়ালিস্টস এন্ড অনট্রাপ্রিনির্য়স এবং দেশটির খ্যাতনামা বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান। বাৎসরিক অনুষ্ঠান উদ্যাপনে মাইক্রোফাইনান্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব রাশিয়া এবং আওয়ার ফিউচার ফাউন্ডেশান মূল ভ‚মিকা পালন করে আসছে।
এ বছরের সম্মেলনের প্রধান আলোচ্য বিষয় ছিল “রাশিয়ায় আন্তর্জাতিক সামাজিক ব্যবসা দিবস উদ্যাপনের ফলাফল পর্যালোচনা” Ñ যেখানে সামাজিক ব্যবসা উদ্যোগ ও সামাজিক ব্যবসার আইনী অবস্থানের প্রেক্ষিতে রাশিয়ার বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে সামাজিক ব্যবসা উদ্যোক্তা বিকাশের ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে বক্তারা আলোচনা করেন। আলোচনায় আরো অন্তর্ভূক্ত ছিল রাশিয়ায় সামাজিক ব্যবসা উদ্যোগের বিকাশে সহায়তার জন্য বিভিন্ন সরকারী সংস্থা ও পার্টনারদের মধ্যে কীভাবে আরো বেশী প্রণোদনা ও আগ্রহ সৃষ্টি করা যায়, সামাজিক ব্যবসা উদ্যোগগুলোর ইতিবাচক অভিজ্ঞতা ও তাদের বিকাশের সম্ভাব্য বিভিন্ন পথ ইত্যাদি।
প্রফেসর ইউনূস ছাড়াও অনুষ্ঠানে আরো যে সকল খ্যাতনামা ব্যক্তিবৃন্দ বক্তব্য রাখেন তাঁদের মধ্যে ছিলেন চেম্বার অব কমার্স এন্ড ইন্ডাস্ট্রি অব দ্য রাশিয়ান ফেডারেশনের প্রেসিডেন্ট সের্গেই ক্যাটিরিন, আওয়ার ফিউচার ফাউন্ডেশনের পরিচালক ও আঞ্চলিক সামাজিক কর্মসূচির পরিচালক তহবিল নাতালিয়া জ্ভেরেভা, রাশিয়ান ফেডারেশনের অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়ন বিষয়ক উপ-মন্ত্রী ভাদিম জিভুলিন, ব্যাংক অব রাশিয়ার সার্ভিস ফর কনজ্যুমার প্রোটেকশন এন্ড ফাইনান্সিয়াল ইনক্লুশন এর প্রধান মিখাইল মামুতা, রাশিয়ান পার্লামেন্ট “স্টেট ডুমা”র সদস্য ও অর্থনৈতিক নীতি, শিল্প, উদ্ভাবন উন্নয়ন ও উদ্যোক্তা বিষয়ক কমিটির ডেপুটি চেয়ারম্যান দিমিত্রি সজোনভ।
এ বছরের সামাজিক ব্যবসা দিবস অনুষ্ঠানের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ ছিল প্রফেসর ইউনূসের গ্রন্থ “A World of Three Zeros” এর রাশিয়ান সংস্করণের আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন। সম্মেলনে অংশগ্রহণকারী প্রত্যেক প্রতিনিধিকে বইটির একটি কপি উপহার হিসেবে তাঁদের কনফারেন্স ব্যাগের সাথে প্রদান করা হয়। রাশিয়ায় প্রফেসর ইউনূসের সফরকালে অনুষ্ঠিত সকল সম্মেলন উপলক্ষে এই বিশেষ সংস্করণটি ছাপানো হয় যা যুগ্মভাবে স্পন্সর করে মাইক্রোফাইনান্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব রাশিয়া এবং আওয়ার ফিউচার ফাউন্ডেশান।
প্রফেসর ইউনূস এরপর রাশিয়ার অন্যতম নেতৃস্থানীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় “ফাইনান্সিয়াল ইউনিভার্সিটি”র রেক্টর প্রফেসর মিখাইল এসকিনদারভের সাথে মধ্যাহ্ণভোজে অংশ নেন। রেক্টরের সাথে আরো ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টির ডেপুটি রেক্টরগণ। রেক্টর এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে একটি “ইউনূস সোশ্যাল বিজনেস সেন্টার” প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হবে বলে তাঁর সিদ্ধান্ত ঘোষণা করেন।
এরপর প্রফেসর ইউনূসকে “কালেকশন” নামে খ্যাত ডেভিড লাকোভাচভিলি প্রতিষ্ঠিত বিশ্বখ্যাত মস্কো মিউজিয়াম ঘুরিয়ে দেখান হয়। বিশ হাজারের অধিক আইটেম নিয়ে এই মিউজিয়াম কালেকশনটি পৃথিবীতে বিশ্ব সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্যের (ওয়ার্ল্ড কালচারাল হেরিটেজ) সর্ববৃহৎ ব্যক্তিগত সংগ্রহ বলে দাবী করা হয়।
এছাড়াও প্রফেসর ইউনূস তাঁর সম্মানে রাশিয়ান ইউনিয়ন অব ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়ালিস্টস এন্ড অনট্রাপ্রিনির্য়স-এর চেয়ারম্যান কর্তৃক আয়োজিত একটি নৈশভোজে যোগ দেন যেখানে নোবেল লরিয়েট রাশিয়ার শীর্ষস্থানীয় শিল্পপতিদের উদ্দেশ্যে বক্তৃতা করেন। প্রফেসর ইউনূস তাঁর বক্তব্যে বলেন যে, ব্যবসা ও শিল্পগুলো যদি কেবল মুনাফার অনুসন্ধানে তাদের সকল মনোযোগ নিবদ্ধ রাখে তাহলে পৃথিবী শীঘ্রই বিলুপ্তির সম্মুখীন হবে। তিনি জোর দিয়ে বলেন যে, মানবজাতিকে রক্ষা করতে হলে এই প্রক্রিয়া এখনই বন্ধ করা প্রয়োজন। সময় দ্রুত শেষ হয়ে আসছে; আমাদেরকে এখনই সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে হবে এবং দ্রæত ব্যবস্থা নিতে হবে।
