Exceeds 13000 Businesses: 481st Social Business Design Lab will invest in Six More Small Businesses

Investments into six more social businesses in addition to 13000 already financed were announced on Tuesday, 14th February, 2017 at the 481st Social Business Design Lab. The 481st Social Business Design Lab organized by Yunus Centre took place on 14 February 2017 at the Grameen Bank Auditorium with nearly 160 national and international participants from USA, Japan and South Korea. The Design Lab, broadcast live on YouTube, was chaired by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.
Six new Nobin Udyokta (New Entrepreneur) business plans were presented at today's lab. All Nobin Udyokta businesses, presented at the Design Lab are the children of Grameen Bank borrowers’ families.
Mahfuz Homeo Hall project had been presented by Mst. Zakaria Sultana. Ms Sultana, mother of one, had completed four years diploma in homeopathic medicine. She now wants to expand her clinic to serve more patients as more patients want to get treated through alternative medicine now a day.
Md. Abdul Halim presented his project Ovi Enterprise. With a small initial investment of Tk 10 thousand, Md Abdul Halim started his handicraft venture where he produces floor mats and baskets of various sizes and shapes with plastic tapes. Now with newfound self confidence, he wants to expand his venture with equity investment from social business fund.
Sheuly Time Centre project is a unique project presented by Sheuly Begum, mother of three. She was trained by her brother in reparing all types of clocks and watches, and started her own watch and clock repairing business which she is running successfully. She is a rare female clock technician in the whole country, and has also adapted to repairing digital watches keeping with the technological shifts. She has applied for equity investment to expand her shop with new equity investment from social business fund.
M/S Bismillah Metals project was presented by Mr Nazim Hossain. Mr Nazim is skilled in making metallic household items including parts for beds and other household items and wants to expand his business.
M/S Sumon Fisheries was presented by Mr Sumon Roy. Mr Roy, an unmarried ambitious young entrepreneur who chose agriculture as his area of doing business. Rather running after job, Mr Roy established his fisheries project and wants to expand with equity investment. M/S Emon Kutir Shilpo project was presented by Md. Sumon. Md. Sumon, father of two is skilled in making handmade broom. He wants to use his expertise to become a full-fledged entrepreneur with an equity investment.
All business plans were presented and discussed in detail. Those were then presented in groups for further review. All projects were approved for funding by their groups. The projects are joint ventures with social business funds and their progress will be monitored on www.socialbusinesspedia.com .
Since the Labs began in January 2013, nearly 13,000 young entrepreneurs have been funded in the last 480 Lab programs with equity investments ranging from taka one lakh to five lakh for Nobin Udyokta projects.
Professor Yunus thanked the participants and invited them to join next Social Business Design Lab which will take place on March 27, 2017.

ইউনূস সেন্টার আয়োজিত ৪৮১তম সামাজিক ব্যবসা ডিজাইন ল্যাব অদ্য ১৪ ফেব্রুয়ারী ২০১৭ গ্রামীণ ব্যাংক অডিটোরিয়াম কক্ষে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, জাপান ও দক্ষিণ কোরিয়া সহ বিভিন্ন দেশীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে প্রায় ১৬০ জন অংশগ্রহণকারী এই ল্যাবে যোগ দেন। ইউ-টিউবের মাধ্যমে সরাসরি সম্প্রচারিত এই ডিজাইন ল্যাবে সভাপতিত্ব করেন নোবেল লরিয়েট প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস।
আজকের ডিজাইন ল্যাবে ৬টি নতুন “নবীন উদ্যোক্তা” ব্যবসা পরিকল্পনা উপস্থাপিত হয়। উপস্থাপিত ব্যবসাগুলোর উদ্যোক্তাদের সকলেই গ্রামীণ ব্যাংকের ঋণগ্রহীতা পরিবারের সন্তান।
মোসাম্মত জাকারিয়া সুলতানা উপস্থাপন করেন তাঁর “মাহফুজ হোমিও হল” প্রকল্পটি। এক সন্তানের জননী জাকারিয়া সুলতানা হোমিওপ্যাথিক মেডিসিনে চার বছরের ডিপ্লোমা ডিগ্রী নিয়েছেন। বিকল্প চিকিৎসায় মানুষের আগ্রহ বাড়তে থাকায় তিনি আরো বেশী মানুষকে সেবা দেবার লক্ষ্যে তাঁর ক্লিনিকটি সম্প্রসারিত করতে চান।
মোঃ আব্দুল হালিম ডিজাইন ল্যাবে তাঁর “অভি এন্টারপ্রাইজ” প্রকল্পটি উপস্থাপন করেন। আব্দুল হালিম মাত্র ১০ হাজার টাকা বিনিয়োগ করে তাঁর এই হস্তশিল্প ব্যবসাটি শুরু করেন যেখানে তিনি প্লাস্টিকের টেপ দিয়ে মাদুর এবং বিভিন্ন আকৃতির ও ধরনের ঝুড়ি তৈরী করে থাকেন। সামাজিক ব্যবসা তহবিল থেকে মূলধনী বিনিয়োগ নিয়ে তিনি এখন নতুন উদ্যেমে তাঁর ব্যবসাটি বড় করার পরিকল্পনা করছেন।
শিউলি বেগম উপস্থাপিত “শিউলি টাইম সেন্টার” একটি অভিনব উদ্যোগ। তিন সন্তানের মা শিউলি বেগম তাঁর ভাইয়ের নিকট থেকে সকল ধরনের ঘড়ি ও হাতঘড়ি মেরামতের কাজ শিখে নিজের ঘড়ি মেরামতের দোকান চালু করেন যা তিনি সফলভাবে চালিয়ে আসছেন। সারা দেশে তাঁর মতো মহিলা ঘড়ি টেকনিসিয়ান খুবই বিরল এবং প্রযুক্তির পরিবর্তনের সাথে তাল মিলিয়ে তিনি ডিজিটাল ঘড়ি মেরামতের কাজও শিখে নিয়েছেন। সামাজিক ব্যবসা তহবিল থেকে মূলধনী বিনিয়োগ নিয়ে তিনিও তাঁর ঘড়ি মেরামতের ব্যবসাটি বড় করতে চাচ্ছেন।
মোঃ নাজিম হোসেন উপস্থাপন করেন তাঁর “মেসার্স বিসমিল্লাহ মেটাল্স” প্রকল্পটি। নাজিম হোসেন বিছানার বিভিন্ন অংশ ও বিভিন্ন গৃহস্থালী উপকরণসহ গৃহস্থালী বিভিন্ন ধাতব পণ্যসামগ্রী তৈরীতে বিশেষভাবে দক্ষ। তিনিও তাঁর ব্যবসাটি সম্প্রসারিত করতে চান।
“মেসার্স সুমন ফিশারিজ” প্রকল্পটি উপস্থাপন করেন মিঃ সুমন রায়। তিনি একজন অবিবাহিত উচ্চাকাংখী তরুণ উদ্যোক্তা যিনি ব্যবসার জন্য এই খাতকে বেছে নিয়েছেন। চাকরির পেছনে না ছুটে সুমন তাঁর নিজের মৎস খামার প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছেন এবং মূলধনী বিনিয়োগ নিয়ে তাঁর খামারটি বড় করতে চাচ্ছেন।
এর পরের প্রকল্পটি ছিল মোঃ সুমনের “মেসার্স ইমন কুটির শিল্প।” সুমন দুই সন্তানের জনক এবং হস্তনির্মিত ঝাড়– তৈরীতে দক্ষ। তিনিও মূলধনী বিনিয়োগ নিয়ে তাঁর দক্ষতা কাজে লাগিয়ে একজন পরিপূর্ণ উদ্যোক্তা হতে চাইছেন।
নবীন উদ্যোক্তাদের ব্যবসায়িক পরিকল্পনাগুলো বিশদ উপস্থাপনা করা হয় এবং এগুলো নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা হয়। এরপর প্রকল্পগুলো অধিকতর পর্যালোচনার জন্য দলীয় পর্যায়ে উপস্থাপনা করা হয়। উপস্থাপিত প্রতিটি প্রকল্পই স্ব-স্ব দল কর্তৃক অর্থায়নের জন্য অনুমোদিত হয়। গ্রামীণের সামাজিক ব্যবসা তহবিলের সাথে যৌথ-মূলধনী ব্যবসা হিসেবে পরিচালিত এই সামাজিক ব্যবসা প্রকল্পগুলো িি.িংড়পরধনঁংরহবংংঢ়বফরধ.পড়স –এ মনিটর করা হবে।
জানুয়ারী ২০১৩-এ ডিজাইন ল্যাব শুরু হবার ৪৮০তম ল্যাব পর্যন্ত প্রায় ১৩,০০০ প্রকল্প মূলধনী বিনিয়োগের জন্য অনুমোদিত হয়েছে। এসকল নবীন উদ্যোক্তা প্রকল্পে অনুমোদিত ইক্যুইটি ফান্ডের পরিমাণ প্রকল্প প্রতি ১.০ থেকে ৫.০ লক্ষ টাকা।
প্রফেসর ইউনূস ডিজাইন ল্যাবে যোগদানের জন্য অংশগ্রহণকারীদেরকে ধন্যবাদ জানান এবং ২৭ মার্চ ২০১৭ তারিখে অনুষ্ঠেয় পরবর্তী সামাজিক ব্যবসা ডিজাইন ল্যাবে যোগদান করতে তাঁদের আমন্ত্রণ জানান।
