Yunus Centre Launched

Professor Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank jointly received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.  Global interest in the work of Professor Yunus peaked immediately.  Communications from around the world inundated Professor Yunus's office. Governments, institutions, companies, foundations, media, and individuals sent requests to learn more about of Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank, and how to emulate the success of Grameen Bank.

Dhaka, Bangladesh - 11/08/09 - Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chairman, Grameen Health Care Trust and Cure2Children Foundation of Italy  signed an MOU to establish a Bone Marrow  Transplantation Centre for Thalassemia in Bangladesh. Cure2Children Foundation was represented by Lawrence Faulkner (founder and scientific coordinator), Pietro Sodani (consultant hematologist and BMT expert) and Eugenio La Mesa  (CEO).

Article 1
ESTABLISHMENT

1. The Yunus Center at AIT (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) is hereby established as an institute-level center within the Asian Institute of Technology.

2. The Center may establish additional satellite centers outside the main AIT campus as appropriate for the implementation of its objectives and activities.
